Style lessons: ponchos.

You might think I am a little bit late on the bandwagon discussing the poncho, this season's essential transitioning garment, now when the weather is getting colder and the actual winter is only two weeks away. But in my defense: 1. the temperatures have been mild enough to let me make the most out of the lightweight fall clothing; and 2. once the weather starts demanding some serious bundling up, poncho can still be used as a great layering piece over the heavier knitwear and outerwear.

Anyway, we just knew ponchos were going to be huge this season right when we spotted the now-infamous multicolored personalized Blueberry ones wrapped around Sarah Jessica Parker, Rosie Huntington - Whiteley and Olivia Palermo. And all three of them gave us the first styling lesson of the season: poncho can work in chic and polished ensembles just as good as in casual ones. The cozy blanket-like garment has been taking over the street style ever since, and I have surely taken my time to dissect it:

- There is something very French - chic about this nonchalant style.
 - Plaids, tribal prints and subtle stripes are a great choice, but so is the solid cashmere option. The key is opting for modern prints and textures and avoiding to look dated.
- Monochromatic is your new best friend: keep the colors in the same spectrum as the shades in your blanket.
- There is nothing that compliments the soft texture of ponchos better than a faux leather pants/ high waist shorts.
- And nothing that does the play with the proportions better that the overknees boots.
- Of course, when in doubt - belt it.

I am sure by now you all have at least one poncho in your closet so I would love to hear what is your favorite
way to wear it! But if you are still on a look for a perfect one, then I hope my inspo collages
and the shopping picks below can ease your decision!
